Statement of beliefs
We are a community that affirms the following viewpoints. There is much more mystery and tension than we can express in these short statements, but we feel these are important pieces for a follower of Jesus to know and announce.
There is 1 God.
That 1 God is triune and has expressed Himself as 3 persons known in tradition as Father, Son, Holy Spirit. This is a profound mystery that the Bible points us to in a convincing way.
Jesus of Nazareth, a Jewish man who lived in the Middle East during the beginning of the 1st century, was the Messiah promised in the Hebrew scriptures, the Son of God, creator of the world, God in flesh. He was crucified and resurrected with a new glorified body, then He ascended to the Father as the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and He is reigning right now through His Church.
The Holy Spirit, God almighty, His personal presence, who dwells with the believers in the gospel. The Holy Spirit is working in creation to build us, empower us, redeem us, and connect us to Jesus.
Salvation, eternal life, life of the age to come, resurrection life, is only found in Jesus through putting our faith, hope, and trust in Him and Him alone. This is a gift that becomes real through encountering and receiving His grace.
The Church is the group of people who are trinitarian followers of Jesus. The Church is made up of many nations and races from a diverse collection of denominations. The Church is the vehicle for the sacred practices like communion and group worship, but also the hope of the world as it is partnering with God to bring His Kingdom and salvation to our broken world.
The Kingdom of God, with Jesus on the throne, is present right here and now, but not fully, until Jesus returns, uniting the new Heaven and new Earth.
When Jesus returns, He will bring Heaven to Earth and all things will be made new. Resurrection will happen, and His followers will receive a glorified body like His. This will be more amazing and wonderful than we could ever imagine.
The Bible is the story of God and is a unified library of writings that points to Jesus. We are convinced that through reading and studying it, we can better understand who God is, and what He is doing in the world.
