Paradigm Community Meeting Tuesday, May 24th
Welcome and Celebration
What an amazing journey the past few months have been?! We have been so blessed by the doors God has opened and the response by so many awesome people. We are truly thankful for how many of you have jumped in and helped in a variety of ways.
We began the meeting by acknowledging all of support and love we have received by this community. In just a short time, there have been so many people who have opened their homes, shared their stories, supported financially, and shared their wisdom and guidance. You are the church and we are so grateful that you are a part of this community.
Updates and Future Plans
• Elder Selection – We are not rushing to select elders, but it is something we are working on. It is important that we make the wisest decision possible in finding elders who understand and own the vision, mission, and core values of Paradigm. In the meantime, we will keep surrounding ourselves with our core community and invite them to speak into our lives.
• Jim Glynn – We took a moment to give some special recognition to Jim Glynn. He is one of our closer advisers. He has so much experience and wisdom that he has been sharing with us. He has been such a blessing doing so much behind the scenes.
• Paradigm Community Name Change – Updating you on our name, we just had the check cashed. We should be hearing soon about when we will officially be Paradigm Community.
• Small Groups in Fall – The mission of Paradigm has 4 parts which we encourage every person to participate in (Sunday Gatherings, Life in Community, Partnering with God, and Personal Growth). Our plan is to offer some small group options for those who are new or do not have group. More info will be coming over the summer.
• Invite Cards – Thank you to those who have suggested we should have some kind of invitation card or flyer. We are created a wallet sized card that you can carry with you and then use to invite people to come to Paradigm. These should be ready in the next week or so.
• Sermon Series – We took a moment to talk about our approach to picking sermons. The goal is to cover the full scope of the Bible. This means we will always be jumping from old to new and regularly diving into the Gospels. There will be sometimes that we hit specific topics.
• Stories and Art – We have had some memorable moments from our stories and art time. Everyone has a story. We want you to consider sharing yours.
• Sunday BBQ – We had such a fun BBQ on the 29th. Thank you to everyone who helped. Sunday, June 5th will be a B.Y.O.L. (bring your own lunch).
Questions and Response Time
At the meeting, we stopped to take some questions. We care about what you are thinking and wondering. There were some great questions asked about theology, baptism, and discipleship. If you have any questions for us, don’t hesitate to reach out. You can email us anytime at paradigmsanclemente@gmail.com or you can give us a call.
Paradigm Community Needs – Now that we a couple months in, we have realized that we need to make some teams to care for some of the needs in the church. As we all pitch in and use our gifts, the church is stronger. Here are the descriptions for teams we are forming. If you are interested, please email us.
• Set Up and Hospitality - Each Sunday morning this team will work together to get the room set. Some of the things that need to be done are placing tables, moving flags, prepping coffee, and drinks, placing signs, adjusting chairs, and assisting with other equipment. Team should arrive just after 8:00am and individuals can serve weekly or bi-weekly.
• Tear Down - Each Sunday morning this team will work together to clear the room and put everything away. This team is perfect for those who attend the 11am service. Team will work together to putting away signage, cleaning coffee pots, helping put sound equipment and tv away, and noting what supplies need to be replenished. Tear down takes about 30 minutes.
• Hosts - Each Sunday morning this team will work together to cover all major entrances and then welcome people as they enter, identify new people, share lay of the land, walk people to kidsministry, add more chairs as needed, and help serve communion on certain Sundays. This team should arrive at 8:30am and should stay until 11:15am.
• Security - Each Sunday we need 1 or 2 people to watch over the community and kids ministry. Since we meet in a public place where there is a variety of traffic, we need to be intentional about watching for the safety of our family. Security team is intended to be eyes and ears and then contact the proper authorities if needed. This team would serve primarily at the 11am service and they could serve weekly or bi-weekly.
• City - Paradigm should be a blessing to our city. This team would work together to look for needs in the city, communicate with the city, coordinate with the congregation, and organize the implementation of serving. This team would work together during the week and should seek 3 to 6 events a year for Paradigm to serve at.
• Prayer and Church Needs - Paradigm desires to be a community that takes care of each other’s needs. This begins through being available to pray for people during Sunday’s worship and response. This team would also be the contact for the people in the congregation to express their needs and work together to meet those needs.
Prayer and Worship – We ended our meeting by praying for the next season of Paradigm and praising God.
We will be having Paradigm Community Meetings every few months to talk about important items that can’t be covered on a Sunday. We will let you know when the next one is happening.
